US Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo, recounting her recent meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, said that India and America would lead the artificial intelligence revolution. Ms Raimondo, who visited India in March, said the best of India was at display during her visit, in terms of culture, tradition and celebrations. Pictures and video clips of her playing Holi have gone viral on social media and reflect the strong relationship between the US and India. Addressing a gathering of Indian Americans at the India House, the commerce secretary fondly remembered her Holi celebrations this year in India. "I was recently in India. I went a day earlier so that I could have the opportunity to participate in Holi. And the defence minister was so gracious to host me with his family," Ms Raimondo said on Saturday.

Artificial intelligence to drive farm growth: PM Modi
New Delhi: Artificial intelligence is going to completely change agriculture and farming in the 21st century, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Thursday, as he stressed on the use of new technologies to boost farm incomes. Addressing a webinar on agriculture and the Union Budget, the prime minister said over 700 agri startups have been launched in the last couple of years, adding that newer technologies will drive growth. Modi also said the PM-KISAN had entered its third anniversary. "This scheme has become a strong support for the small farmers of the country. Under the scheme, almost โน1.75 lakh crore has been given to 11 crore farmers," he said.

Inaugurating a five-day global virtual summit on artificial intelligence (AI), Responsible AI for Social Empowerment or RAISE 2020, Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted how the use of AI will empower India and also warned against the pitfalls. In June, India along with Australia, the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, France, Germany, New Zealand and others joined together to create the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI) for the responsible development and use of AI. Algorithm transparency is key to establishing this trust. This will create an e-education unit to boost the digital infrastructure, digital content and capacity. Under this programme, more than 11,000 students from schools completed the basic course.
India should soon become a global hub for AI, says PM Modi
Speaking at the Responsible AI for Social Empowerment (RAISE) 2020 summit, PM Modi said that while he wants India to become a global hub for AI, it is also a collective responsibility of the nation to protect the world from misuse of AI by non-state actors such as cyber criminals, terrorists, among others. "It remains our collective responsibility to ensure trust in how AI is used. Algorithm Transparency is key to establishing this trust. We must protect the world against weaponisation of AI by non-state actors," he said. In a first, the union government has organized a five-day virtual global summit to kickstart discussion on the creation of robust AI-powered public infrastructure to benefit India as well as other nations.

New Delhi, Oct 02: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to inaugurate a global virtual summit on Artificial Intelligence (AI), RAISE 2020 - 'Responsible AI for Social Empowerment 2020' on October 5, according to the ministry of electronics and information technology. According to reports, the summit is scheduled to be held from October 5 to 9, 2020 and is being organised by the ministry of electronics and information technology (MeitY) and NITI Aayog. Hathras case: Demand to impose President's rule in UP The inauguration event will take place in the presence of minister of electronics & IT, communications and law & justice, Ravi Shankar Prasad, eminent global AI expert Professor Raj Reddy, Reliance Industries Ltd chairman Mukesh Ambani, IBM CEO Arvind Krishna among others. Professor Raj Reddy will hold a session about developing voice-enabled AI that removes linguistic barriers on October 6, the second day of the summit. Former Infosys CFO Mohandas Pai, and Brad Smith, president & legal head, Microsoft Global will also participate in sessions.

Chandrasekaran and Roopa Purushottam, Modi said, "The debate should not be on what are the dangers from AI, but how to bridge the gap between artificial intelligence and human intentions." He said the emphasis should be on ways to upgrade skills as per the demand. "Let AI be just another aid, which is little more sophisticated," he said.
